Spontaneous Afternoon Delight

Who says you can’t have fun on a Tuesday afternoon?

A new mountain friend of mine daydreamed about taking a drive into Asheville to enjoy a newly opened European bakery. On a spontaneous whim we said, “Well…why not? Let’s go!”

And go we did! We taste tested several delectable pastries, along with a vanilla cardamon latte and cappuccino. We sat and talked of travels and dreams, allowing ourselves to just be in the moment.

In our Carpe Diem mood, we also stopped by the lake on our way home and strolled for a few miles to drink in the last rays of a beautiful day.

We were proud for doing something spontaneous and seizing a moment to go and do something for ourselves. We all need mental breaks to clear the cobwebs and feel alive, before we have an  involuntary mental break! Life is tough and  we are our own worst enemy. Remember to heed my doctors words and do something nice for yourself everyday. It may not be driving to another city for coffee, but it could jamming in the car to your favorite tunes, mediating for ten minutes, writing in a journal, reading a good book or calling a bestie for girl chat.

Point is- carve out that nugget of time and take care of yourself!!
